Group Fitness Classes and Dance Fitness Classes

Bellydance – Beginning

This slower paced class is excellent for those who are new to the art of bellydancing, as well as for those students who want to review Middle Eastern Dance techniques like body rolls, shimmies and hip undulations. Come explore the fundamentals of belly dancing in a fun encouraging environment! The first half of class will consist of a warm up, in-depth movement and technique breakdown, instruction on isolations, traveling steps, body awareness and simple layering. In the second half of class you will learn a fun choreographed dance routine utilizing movements and techniques learned in class.  Each routine is taught over a four week period but drop-in’s are welcome at any time!

All fitness and experience levels are welcome in these group fitness classes!
We recommend students wear workout attire and bring a water bottle. 


Bellydance – Intermediate

This intermediate level class is excellent for those who want to take their bellydancing to the next level! Building on movements and techniques learned in the beginning class we will learn more complicated techniques and layerings. Build your strength, stamina and confidence with engaging combos and drills.  Class will consist of a warmup, technique breakdown and drills, a dance routine or combos and a cool down.  Drop-in’s are welcome at any time!

While all levels are welcome, this is not a beginning class. Beginning Bellydance is recommended for those new to bellydance. 
We recommend students wear workout attire and bring a water bottle.


Bellydance – Clinic

What does that even mean?

It’s taking a month at a time to work specifically on one movement, one hour per week. Each month we will focus on something different. There won’t be much dancing, so keep going to your regular classes for that! You’ll get individual attention and exercises to take home with you. So if any movement in the belly dance vocabulary has vexed you, this is where we problem solve and work towards mastering a specific iteration, whether it’s a deep and beautiful undulation, a kick ass, percussive shimmy or a super articulated circle. Warmups will be specific to the muscle groups needed to execute the move of the month.

Bellydance – with Finger Cymbals

Students will learn multiple finger cymbal patterns and practice playing them with belly dance movements. Class includes a warm up, cymbal drills, movement breakdown and short combinations. Finger cymbals can be purchased from several online sources. Students may contact instructor if they need recommendations.

All fitness and experience levels are welcome!

We recommend students wear non-constricting workout attire and bring a water bottle.


Buti Yoga

Dynamic Asana + Deep Abdominal Toning + Cardio-Intensive Dance
Buti is a high-intensity fusion of yoga, tribal dance, and plyometrics. Classes combine cardio, strength training, deep abdominal toning and flexibility in one seamless format.
This practice is a Dance-yoga hybrid class which allows you to stretch AND shake your hips. Music guides our classes like an internal GPS. The beat blended movement forces you out of your head and INTO YOUR BODY.

Chair Dance


This dance and cardio class is an exhilarating way to burn calories, tone your core and lower body and learn a variety of fun and sexy dance moves. A new routine is taught every week which makes this class perfect for drop-ins. This class starts with a warm up including basic dance technique breakdown and drills then jumps right into a fun routine designed to get your body moving and your heart pumping. Boost your confidence in this fast paced, high energy hour of chair dancing perfect for beginners and seasoned dancers alike!

Fit For Life

Interested in improving your stamina and fitness level? This flexible class designed to work with everyone from the beginner just getting started to the advanced athlete looking for a new challenge could be for you! Designed with long term health in mind, Fit For Life utilizes fitness and physical progress monitoring to help everyone hit their realistic and challenging lifestyle goals. Check-ins will be held on the 1st Tuesday of every month, but drop-ins are welcome at any time! Through social support and our positively focused class atmosphere, the real achievable results monitored through our monthly check-ins, and that extra push our instructors bring to your fitness regimen you will feel better and more active than ever before!

Flexibility Development

n Flexibility Development our certified instructors will help you properly prepare your body by progressing through steps to encourage self-awareness, breathing, proper muscular engagement and body alignment before moving into sustained stretches intended to make noticeable changes in your range of motion.

Our Flexibility Development classes are appropriate for all experience levels! Variations of each exercise are always available to accommodate different levels of experience.

Bastet will provide a mat, blocks and band, but feel free to bring your own equipment!


Heels

In our Heels classes you will be led through a warm up, technique and strength drills to prepare the body to move safely in heels, then you will learn a sultry, sassy dance routine. Learn how to strut in heels and express your sexiness through movement and dance. This all levels class is perfect for anyone! This class gives a great workout combining sensual dance with balance and strength work. We encourage wearing heels but this class can be taken in bare feet or socks.

All fitness and experience levels welcome!
Wear moderate to low height heels and something that makes you feel sexy (regular workout clothes are fine too!) that you can move comfortably in. Don’t forget a water bottle!
Optional: Knee pads or leg warmers (some dances will include a little floorwork)


Hip Hop

Get ready for a fun, sassy dance class and a great work out! This class starts with a light warm-up, followed by a choreographed routine. We will touch on basic hip hop movements in this class, to a variety of hip hop music. This class is good for beginners and open to all levels.

Liquid Motion

The Liquid Motion ® Class is an open level class that utilizes elements of fitness conditioning, sensual movement, and dance theory, to provide the student with a total mind and body movement experience. In this class, students will learn the Liquid Motion ® Fundamentals to build a foundation for floor work & wall work. The class includes body conditioning, lateral movement drills, intricate floor flows, exploration of sensual movement, and an understanding of total body awareness. Or as we refer to it, Liquid Motion ®!

All fitness and experience levels are welcome!
We recommend students bring knee pads, socks or leg warmers, long pants/leggings and a long sleeve shirt for a better movement experience. Don’t forget a water bottle!


Piyo

You’ll use your bodyweight to perform a series of continuous, targeted moves, to burn fat as you redefine every single muscle. No weights. No jumps. Just hardcore results.You can get sleek, long arms; sexy, flat abs; a tight, lifted butt; and the confidence that comes from knowing you’re at your best!

All fitness and experience levels welcome in these group fitness classes!
This class is done barefoot on yoga mats. Yoga attire is preferred in this class. We recommend that students bring water and a towel.  


STRONG by Zumba

Stop counting the reps. Start training to the beat. STRONG by Zumba ® combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music that has been specifically designed to match every single move. Every squat, every lunge, every burpee is driven by the music, helping you make it to that last rep, and maybe even five more. In this one-hour class you will burn calories while toning arms, legs, abs and glutes. In STRONG by Zumba ®, you push yourself beyond your plateaus to achieve overall body transformation.

We recommend that students wear form fitting workout attire. Athletic shoes are REQUIRED. Bring a towel and water.


Turbo Kick

Turbo Kick® mixes high-energy cardio kickboxing with current music that makes you want to move! Easy-to-follow movement patterns, combinations and techniques work together to maximize weight loss, improve coordination and memorization, and increase cardiovascular endurance. Punch, kick, and jab your way to a leaner body and a tighter core!

Twerk Classes

Get ready to pop, drop, shake and shimmy! This Twerk class will teach you how to isolate your booty in multiple positions using various techniques. Twerking is an amazing workout for your entire lower body as well as your core, abs and lower back! Extra bonus, twerking is also a great cardio workout! Class will begin with a warm up, you’ll then learn and practice a selection of moves, breaking down the technique so you can really dive into the details. Next we put it all together by learning a fun, high energy, bootylicious dance!! Up you your booty shake game and check out a Twerk Class at Bastet Dance Fitness!

Zumba

We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise.  A total workout, combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.

Performance Troupe Rehearsals

Bellydance Troupe Rehearsal
This hour long class is the rehearsal time for Bastet’s bellydance troupe, Dancers of Bastet.  In this rehearsal time we will learn performance choreography and work on refining steps and movements (learned in Bellydance Class) in preparation for performing.  The troupe is open to anyone with regular Bellydance Class attendance (requires instructor approval).  This is not a beginning class; students should have the ability to execute basic bellydance moves.

Prerequisites for the Dancers of Bastet

  1. Must attend weekly Bellydance Class (in addition to troupe rehearsal)
  2. Must be able to commit to rehearsals and performances
  3. Instructor approval, if you have any questions feel free to contact Stephanie

Chair Dance Troupe Rehearsal
This hour long class is the rehearsal time for Bastet’s chair troupe, The Bastet Chair Teasers.  In this rehearsal time we will learn choreography in preparation for performing.  The troupe is open to anyone with regular dance class attendance (requires instructor approval).  This is not a beginning class; students should have a basic knowledge of dance and feel comfortable learning choreography.
